No rain but it sure has looked like it would all day. Temps will not drop much tonight upper 40’s probably lowest we will see in the high country.                                       Sunday  Highs upper 50’s with showers and thunder showers possible.  Low upper 40’s.  First of week summer like then we cool down to normal to slightly below normal.  Possible active weather pattern first couple weeks of May. High temperature 53F. Maybe few sprinkles in afternoon into the night.                                  Saturday-Sunday  Saturday: High mid 50’s. Low temperature upper 40’s. Maybe some showers.  Sunday:high upper 50’s. Low temperature upper 40’s. Maybe showers and possible thunder showers.  Warm up first few days of May but a nice welcome cooldown will follow. There’s no snow chance on models but May snow has been known even when models don’t hint it. So til mid May we will keep eye out for any chance. Thanks for taking time to read the blogs. ​                                    4500’ Yancey NC                                   4/28/2022 6:30 PM Very typical spring day. Started the morning off with a cool 35F. But warmed up to high of 55F. 10-15 mph gust. Wall to wall sunshine. If you like spring today the perfect spring day in the high country.                                Friday Thru Sunday  Friday: High mid 50’s with low temperature around 45F. Showers possible later in the day.  Saturday: High around 55F  with low around 45F. Showers.  Sunday: Hugh’s upper 50’s with low around 45F. Showers maybe some thunder showers.  We will likely see another cool down end of next week. Could be the last. But that first week of May had always surprised us time to time with some colder than normal temperatures. I really appreciate everyone support. ​                               4500’ Yancey NC                               4:00 PM 4/27/2022 After night of flurries we drop to low of 30F. All sun today with 5-10 mph wind with gust up to 20MPH . High today 47F. It feels amazing out today. Enjoy this while we have it.                          Thursday Thru Saturday  Thursday: High low 50’s with low temperature mid 30’s. Sunny. Friday:high around 50F. With low temperature in lower 40’s. Rain showers late.  Saturday: High around 55F with low temperature in the low 40’. Rain showers.  Looks to be pretty normal for this time of the year. Spring roller coaster will be coming to end so enjoy these great cool mornings. Trees are wanting to bud but I have noticed some bud die off. We are currently 1-3 weeks ahead of schedule with buds on trees so that will lead to a early green up. Usually end of May trees leaf out but as it looks now ,”cause of the summer like temperatures we will green up first to second week of May. Appreciate everyone

We have fell to 45F as of 1pm.  Steady drop will continue with low around 30F. Rainfall amount for today 0.26”. Will take it.                      Wednesday Thru Friday Wednesday: sunny. High upper 40’s. Low temperature low 30’s.  Thursday: mostly sunny. High temperature around 50F. Low temperature mid 30’s.  Friday:showers possible  especially in afternoon. High around 50F with low around 40F.  Beautiful normal spring weather we will be into for next few days. This weekend looks little more likely for showers which is needed. Sun this morning now partly cloudy. This all changing tomorrow with rain and much cooler air coming in tomorrow  night.                        Tuesday Thru Thursday  Tuesday: High mid 50’s with low temperature low 30’s.  Rain. More Seasonal like temperatures. Gusty winds turning more NW during the day.  Wednesday: High upper 40’s. Low temperature low 30’s. Winds lil gusty out of NW.  Thursday: High around 50F. Low temperature upper 30’s  More seasonal like temperatures after today. Much needed chance for rain coming tomorrow but amounts unknown. Different models showing differently so I would say expect light rain showers. Colder air moves in thankfully to break up this pretty hot for April temperatures. ​                               4500’  Yancey NC                               4:05PM 4/24/2022 Today was a tick cooler. 65F  the high today after a morning low of 46F. Winds blowing 5-10mph. Summertime  weather in April.                           Monday Thru Wednesday  Monday: High Mid 60’s. With low temperature upper 40’s. Sunny with clouds in afternoon.  Tuesday: High upper 50’s. Low temperature close to freezing. Rain and thunderstorms. Much needed.  Wednesday: Normal spring weather day! High around 50F with low temperature near freezing.  After this stretch of summertime temperatures we will go into cooler pattern. Rain chances will be few but not enough leading into June July August. Fear of a drought to form into the summer. Needs to be watched. Hopefully we can get some tropical remnant’s to help us. Today high of 67F is more than our whole summer high AVG last year. Hopefully this not a sigh to come. Also been pretty dry lately. Low temperature of 47F this morning. Some clouds time to time but mostly sunny.  Hazy Mountains Today.                                         Sunday                   Tomorrow about same as today.  Week ahead thankfully has relief from heat.  After Monday a front pushes in and we get back to seasonal temperatures with 50’s as high and 30’s at night. Maybe a night or two  below freezing. Looking past that there signals this last few days of seasonal temperatures. No sun has poked out. This morning low was 44F.                          Saturday And Sunday Saturday: High tomorrow Low 60’s the high. Low temperature around mid 40’s. Sunny.  Sunday:High low 60’s with low temperature around mid 40’s. Sunny.  This weekend will be hottest temperatures since September 2021.  Next week will be lot different. Rain moves in Tuesday. Which is much needed. Starting Wednesday we will be around normal for temperatures. Hopefully we trend even cooler which is possible. Possible below freezing temperatures next week. High temperature today hit 55F. Today felt like a late spring day for high country. Lot high thin clouds but sun was able to filter thru most of the day.                           Thursday Thru Saturday  Thursday: High upper 50’s.  Low temperature mid 40’s. 50/50 clouds and sun we will call tomorrow.  Friday: High around 60F with low in upper 40’s. Sun.  Saturday: Very warm with temps around the low 60’s. Low temperature upper 40’s. Possibly hottest day since September 2021.  No rain til Monday. Mild to Hot temperatures especially in valleys. And non mountain areas like Asheville, Hendersonville,Erwin and Johnson city will be Hot. Still eyeing the cool down end of month into May but we will eventually skip the roller coaster of “spring” to straight summer like weather. Hope everyone has a great rest

​                                    4500’ Yancey NC                                    4/19/2022 4:20PM Temperatures crashed last night so rain showers turn to snizzle and light snow showers. Accumulation skiff - Dusting. Low temperature this morning was 20F but windchill single digits. High today 35F. Great day to hike or do whatever you like. We will warm up end of week so enjoy these temps. Cover those plants up again to keep warm cause temps will be in the mid 20’s tonight. Freeze warning and advisories are all over TN and WNC.                       Wednesday Thru Friday  Wednesday:high around 50F. Low temperature upper 30’s.  Mostly sunny.  Thursday: mid 50’s high temperature. With low 40’s as low temperature. 50/50 clouds and sun.  Friday: highs around 60F. Low temperature upper 40’s. Actually had a snow/sleet l/rain mix this morning with snow trying to accumulate but wasn’t enough to measure. Rain showers will continue tonight as NW Flow pushes in. Total rain today 0.90” as I’m typing. Snow showers will develop over night for some as temperatures fall into the 20’s. Also gusty NW Winds.                         Tuesday Thru Thursday  Tuesday: High around 40F with low temperature in mid to upper20’s. Am Snow showers/flurries. Accumulation around dusting. Gusty winds in am.  Wednesday: high temperatures upper40’s. Low temperature mid 30’s. sunny. Thursday: warm high upper 50’s.  Low temperature low to mid 40’s. High of 58F after morning temperature of 41F. Mostly Sunny this morning but now it’s mostly cloudy. Low tonight low mid 30’s.                         Monday Thru Wednesday  Monday: rain showers. High will struggle to 40F mark tomorrow. Low temperature in the upper 20’s.  Tuesday: possible morning flurries with possible snow showers. Maybe dusting on high peaks. High around 40F with low temperature mid 20’s.  Wednesday: sunny. High around 50F with low temperature around 40F.  Snow showers and flurries possible Tuesday am. But the main snow accumulation will be in VA WV PA areas. After this it’s pretty much dry and quite.  High pressure looks to keep us dry til next Monday the 25th. Rain came in this morning and gave us 0.35” in the rain bucket. That now puts us over a inch for the week. High temperature of 54F with now mostly cloudy skies. Low tonight will get us to around 40F.                                        Sunday  Mainly sunny day with clouds rolling in more in the afternoon. High temperatures around the mid 50’s. Low temperature low to mid 30’s. Rain May enter right around  midnight.                       Brief Week Ahead Thoughts Monday will be cool day with rain. Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning will be below freezing for some locations in the high country. Some flurries possible Tuesday  am. That’s about it for week.  There’s a wind advisory for ETN mountains and foothills tomorrow  Night into Monday morning. ​                                  4500’ Yancey NC                                  4/15/2022 8:20PM Beautiful morning with low of 31F but we quickly warmed today with all this sunshine. 56F was the high but clouds came in this afternoon to stop anymore heating. We are quickly falling to mid 40’s as I’m typing this.  Humidity 28%  with dew point of 21.3. Winds been 10-15 mph also. Dry conditions til tomorrow morning.                                  Saturday and Sunday  Saturday:  high low 50’s. Low temperature upper 30’s. Rain  will be around heavy at times for some locations.  Clearing out in afternoon.  Sunday: High low 50’s. Low temperature close to freezing. Sun to clouds.  This week has been pretty uneventful. Next week could be about same. Outside of a cooler shot of air Monday into Tuesday with chance of high elevation flurries. And that looks to be best shot at precipitation as of now.
