4500’ Yancey NC Information ⬇️


Current Condition: moderate snow


Saturday-Sunday


Friday colder air crashes in in the morning where ETN to the NC border will transition to snow. Afternoon goes on much if WNC looks to see some snow showers even in the valleys. 

Saturday and Sunday early am will be NW Flow Snow for the TN/NC Border. 


Accumulation Event Proj Totals: 4000’ on up for ETN 12-20” 

ETN Foothills 2-6”

Tri cities Dusting-2” 

NC/TN Border 4000’ on up 4-8” / favorable locations 10-12” . 

WNC Valleys  1-3” 

Asheville Dusting - 1” possible maybe more depending on how streamers form. 


Nw Flow generally just stays along the border in the high country but this NW Flow event is strong so some of these showers will break containment. Someone possible in the high country along the border could see almost 2’ of snow. Will say it’s hard to pinpoint exactly how these showers will line up so there can be drastic differences in snow amounts. Also elevation is key.

Rain came in this morning and gave us 0.35” in the rain bucket. That now puts us over a inch for the week. High temperature of 54F with now mostly cloudy skies. Low tonight will get us to around 40F.                                        Sunday  Mainly sunny day with clouds rolling in more in the afternoon. High temperatures around the mid 50’s.
