First Thoughts:
Models and Outlooks have been flip flopping and changing constantly. So what the heck going on? Well il try to explain the best I can right here in the blog. Let’s go ahead and get the simple answers out of the way. Will it snow? It’s possible. Where? Just depends on how the cold air meets up. I know this all typical stuff.
Let’s get in depth with more information for 14-17 December:
14th looks like a Cad set up going to be in place which usually pulls colder air though Virginia all way to sometimes to Atlantis depending on how strong this set up is. So you maybe thinking what’s a CAD or Cold Air Damming it’s when cold air layer gets trapped between coast and mountains. Pretty difficult to actually forecast these type of things especially with moisture coming into play. That’s what the 14th looks like. Depending on how strong this CAD is will determine if there will be ice from. Mountains to foothills. Usually snow not the only type precipitation in these events and sometimes it’s all ice or cold rain. Now 15th looks like just rain but that could change just like this all could and will in some way. 16/17 and maybe 18th NW Flow Kicks in.(TN/NC Border)As this is ways out we don’t know accumulation totals or anything but it looks like a great setup per models for long NW Flow Event I’m talking couple days or maybe more. I do think in this time frame ski resorts can blow snow as it will be definitely cold enough but for natural snow il say it will be a mountain event above 3500’ for now. That can change and may see flakes lower but for possible accumulation it’s high country. Now there’s maps out for ice accumulation and snow accumulation and il tell you here don’t pay those attention especially 7 days out. Watch the trends not the totals. And I live watching big totals come on a model as much as anyone but we can’t fall into the hype trap that clickbait present’s to us. With Cad Events Upstate SC/ PIEDMONT NC/ GA are all in play just depends on how strong this Cad is and right now I don’t think it will be strong enough for all ice or snow. Especially midlands SC to coast I just don’t see it. But can change. Pattern changing and there is plenty of time for winter like weather as winter just began. Hopefully this is helpful. I’m by no means a meteorologist and definitely follow the local meteorologist. But I live in this climate in the high country also other places in NC and all over SC. Hopefully from what I’ve learnt and seen in the past will help give better look at things for our general area.
Appreciate everyone support as always!
