Forecast 

Monday: High mid 60’s. With low temperature in the low 50’s. Showers and thunderstorms possible. 


Fall Leaves: 

Color starting to show up in elevation due to cool nights and average to some below average high temperatures in the afternoon.  Also time of the year when abscission process starts to occur. Basically shortened daylight hours causes reduction in chlorophyll causes this. Now for leaves changing color time frame.  Right now a variety of trees showing some color but in next week or two look for Maple trees to rapidly change colors. Mid September in the high country especially. We still will have warm to average highs but this process of leaves changing has already started in the high country so we need to keep fingers crossed that heavy rain and wind will stay away til peak season for fall colors is over . ​                                   4500’ Yancey NC                                    4:10PM 4/16/2022 Chilly start to the morning with a low of 38F. Rain came in this morning and gave us 0.35” in the rain bucket. That now puts us over a inch for the week. High temperature of 54F with now mostly cloudy skies.
