We finally getting some rain today after a dry stretch. High today was 51F after a morning low of 45F. Temperatures will fall quickly this afternoon into tonight where we can be in a range of upper 20’s to low 30’s by sunrise tomorrow morning. We dry out later tonight before more rain tomorrow night.

Ok here’s the popular weather topic of the day. Will it snow and how cold will we get for the weekend? Here’s what I’m thinking. Friday night temperatures will crash where we should start to see some snow showers develop. Rain to snow scenario. Then Saturday we stay cold with snow continuing with a NW Flow that will set up.   The NW Flow set up I’m most confident on but with that and main event it has the possibility of a 24hr event for some that are in the favorable locations. Accumulations there’s no way to predict this far out and honestly we are still a long ways out from Saturday. But the trends are there.  Things will indeed change we can’t forget that!

March has produced some epic snows and cold. And the cold we may see per models has occurred in March many of times. March always full of swings and dips in temperatures. Here’s some examples March 7 1985 highlands had a low of -7F also for March 12th reference that the buzz is around in 1998 March 12 Mt Mitchell had a low of -6F. March a very fun month from a weather stand point usually!

Thank you all for the support! Hope everyone enjoys these as much as I enjoy sharing  what goes on in a high country microclimate.
