What a day yesterday snowy, cold and windy! Today we started out with the lowest temperatures of the year and season of 2F. We warmed up steadily thru the day to 29F. The high temperatures cause melting from the snow that fell yesterday but also it helped keep things colder having snow pack. 12.3” was the official total from the snow yesterday that ended around 6pm or so last night but few flurries flew til late night on and off. There’s still 8” of snow pack on the ground even in the sun areas. A little tid bit we had a major snow accumulation in just a hr yesterday from the NW Flow of 2.3” in one hr!
The week ahead will be warmer but Monday morning we will need to watch out for black ice and refreeze of slush since there’s still snow and moisture non some roads in the high country. Calm weather til Wednesday when there will be rain chances into first part of weekend. We can’t rule out cold snaps or even winter weather til mid MAY for the high country so we still will keep eye out n patterns and models on those possibilities.
Appreciate everyone support. Hope everyone has a great rest of there Sunday! Feel free to share this as the main goal is I want to share this information so people can see what a microclimate in WNC looks like.
